Prizes Galore!

If you’re printing raffle tickets for charity

…don’t worry! Everyone wants to help out and link their names with your cause. It’s great publicity for local businesses, so have no fear. Just summon up your ability to talk up your good deeds, tie on your trainers, and take it to the streets.

You’re looking for donations, either of merchandise, gift certificates, or cash. Who are you going to ask?

  • the grocer
  • clothing boutiques
  • day spas
  • movie theaters
  • animal groomers
  • the chemist
  • bakeries
  • candy shops
  • sporting goods stores
  • theater groups
  • artists

In short, you’re going to ask everyone! If they sell a product or service your patrons might want, they can help you gather some fabulous prizes. For your part of the bargain, you ensure that businesses donating to your cause will receive loads of free and positive publicity that proves they are taking action in the community.

What are you going to do?

  • Learn the manager or owner’s name (if it’s not on the Internet, ring up and ask)
  • Schedule a meeting
  • Look professional!
  • Be prepared to discuss your organization and the work you do
  • Be prepared to explain the benefits of charitable contribution to public opinion
  • Don’t be afraid to ask for what you want
  • Don’t be discouraged if you don’t get it

Remember to look through your existing donor list to see if your current patrons happen to be involved in eligible businesses; some folks may be willing and able to give more.

Whew! That’s quite a bit for today. Let’s pick this up later in the week….
