We stayed out all night.
There were a live band, with dancing, and fireworks, and plenty of bubbly. Everyone we knew came out. And you know how I adore raffles? There was a raffle!
We didn’t win
That’s all right, though. First of all, we didn’t buy that many tickets, simply because we couldn’t afford them. And the important thing, naturally, is that the money went to a good cause. They were selling tickets to benefit the Children’s Hospital, so really, we made a nice charitable contribution.
Still, I was a bit jealous. There were quite a few prizes! A bed and breakfast weekend, an air hockey table, a case of Beaujolais…so many lovely things. My sister’s husband won a gift certificate…to a boutique that sells kiddie clothes. We had to tease him about when they might be ready to use that one! Someday I shall be an auntie
! A lady I knew from school won a scrumptious leather jacket.
I made my New Year’s resolution right there. I resolved to support more charities, inasmuch as they are doing their fund raising by selling raffle tickets for wonderful prizes! More tickets means more chances, and I love to take a chance!
